“Friends. Family. Pizza. Forever!”

Achievements Earned In:
- Achilles: Survivor
- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge

The week of June 3rd is a tough one for me emotionally, so I was happy to have Achilles: Survivor for most of the last week. My goal as I went along was to finish a level while completing as many of the challenges as I could, then returning with a Survivor that might be better suited to the task at hand (i.e. picking one that has a higher base crit chance if I need to do critical damage). I would also switch to a new Survivor as I unlocked their related achievements. Pythia was probably my least favorite choice, and her weapon (Apollo’s Light) just wasn’t very good. I didn’t really need much effort most of the time… until I reached The Dungeons. The challenges there had me pulling my hair out at times, and I just couldn’t manage to get the RNG necessary for what I needed. It was really ruining my experience with the game… until I realized I’m an idiot and you actually don’t need the golden laurel for the final area, for some reason? This led to me to look up the game’s PC achievements, and they seem to have taken out the harder ones for the Xbox list. I’ll allow it! This ended up being a very relaxing completion when I really needed such a thing. The action never reached the absurdity of Vampire Survivors, but I think that other game benefits from such a simplistic art style which allows such screen-clearing madness.

Hello, I am a giant spider, and I am surviving.

The list of games next leaving Game Pass was released, and I immediately decided I absolutely had to get around to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge. I really wanted to play this with my wife and kiddo once it came out, but… well, things have changed. Hey, that’s the whole freaking reason this week was hard to begin with! Anyway, Blue Melodia was more than happy to jump in with me and play through Story Mode with me. We decided to play on Normal, so there’d be some level of difficulty without being too hard. Even then, I have to say this game can be pretty tough. I know this was a thing in the games I played as a kid (I had TMNT II and III on NES, and IV on SNES), but we were constantly getting hit cheaply by just about every enemy. What a pain! I got really worried when I’d get sucker-punched and see the little “challenge failed” notification pop up. Thank goodness there are no achievements tied to the level-based challenges, apparently. We managed to clear Story Mode fully, finding all of the hidden cameos and getting all the collectibles (for them). I’m working on grinding all of the characters up to level 10 before we move to the Arcade Mode, which requires getting 2000 kills with each of them. That’s dumb, but it’s whatever. Overall I love the art style and animations! What a cool game.
