The only things I really had left in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge this week were to complete Arcade mode without using a continue, finish Arcade mode on Gnarly (Hard) difficulty, and get 2000 points with each character to fully level them in Story mode. For that first one, Blue Melodia was nice enough to play along in Arcade mode so I could have her pick me up if I got downed and to generally help manage enemies. It wasn’t very tough and we made it through first try! Going into the Gnarly run, I thought it would be easy enough: just keep using continues until I made it to the end. But I quickly realized to my dismay that you have limited continues! It ended up being a lot tougher than I thought it would be, so after getting game over a few times I jumped online to try and have some randos jump in to help. Took a couple rounds to find some that would reliably avoid damage, fight well, and pick others up. Even with this group, I got nervous as we reached the final stages since Statue of Tyranny and Super Shredder are formidable foes… Good thing the game glitched pretty hard and straight up skipped the entire final stage and rewarded me the achievement anyway! I have zero idea how that happened, but a beneficial glitch is a rare and welcome thing. This left the very boring grind of getting 2000 points (around 2000 kills) with each character included in the base game, including Casey Jones. It was easiest to run through the first stage, scoring around 90 kills and over 100 points each time. The suggestion I saw was to skip Bebop at the end and just restart the level for efficiency, but you get about 20 points for beating him (not counting various Foot Soldiers that spawn during the fight) so I felt the effort was worth the ROI. I finally wrapped it up with Donatello on Thursday, and was happy to put this one behind me. It was really fun at first, but that grind at the end was a downer.
Oh! I also had to kill Super Shredder without taking damage. I have no idea how that would be possible without cheesing the achievement by having a second controller playing through the final stage up to his defeat and then joining before the final boss explodes. Done and done, thank goodness. That would have been a nightmare to get legitimately…

Get wrecked, Shredhead.
Back to games I actually own that I wanna get to, I figured I’d finally start The Mummy Demastered. Unlike the 2017 film it was a tie-in for, the game is actually pretty good, developed by the same studio that did the similar Aliens: Infestation, a Nintendo DS game from 2011. They’re both “Metroidvania” style games that feature some kind of permadeath, though this game is more like you’re resurrected and have to return to your now-living corpse to collect your gear. Luckily, I personally haven’t had to experience this since there’s an achievement for beating the entire game without dying so each time my HP reaches zero it’s time to revert to the backup save. The gameplay itself is a little annoying, and I often find myself stuck getting hit a lot by multiple enemies. The game can be pretty tough! I had just beaten the second boss (out of five based on the achievements I have remaining) when I stopped for the week on Saturday, though, so I’m making good time!

I just don’t like spooky scary skeletons!
Had plans on Friday, so had to pop into Vigour quick after work to keep the streak going. I’m getting there!
