Achievements Earned In:

Sunday found the kiddo and I getting home from our excursion into Northern Illinois, so I jumped on Minecraft on the Switch late that evening just to keep my streak going. Moving on.

I have been debating whether to start Dishonored for a long, long time. I actually had it installed and loaded it up a year or so ago, but I was currently on my NTSC-J Xbox 360 console and the game is region-locked, and that extra effort to switch consoles put me off for the time. But, I finally had the appropriate Xbox hooked up and decided to take the dive. This is a first-person stealth action game that has gotten a couple of sequels since its release. Now, you’d think I put it off for so long due to needing a playthrough where you’re not spotted at all, or where you don’t kill anyone, or where you combine both along with no upgrades to make it a quicker completion. Nope! Those factors made my first playthrough kind of annoying at times (and my second, violent and carefree playthrough all the more enjoyable) but it’s never really “hard”. And, heck, I love stealth games! No, I’d avoided this for so long due to the “Dunwall City Trials” add-on. Here you’re challenged to put your skills to the test in various scenarios, and I distinctly remember Shawn1991 raging at them for a good bit. I finished up the base game on Saturday evening, so I spent the rest of the night attempting the most difficult of the Trials achievement-wise, “Back Alley Brawl”, and… good lord. What a stupid piece of garbage! For the achievement, you have to kill every enemy up until Wave 13. Sounds easy enough, right? But, the game’s enemies have “factions” and will engage in combat against those in other factions. Sometimes this is a thug and an officer going at it; I just jump in and kill them both. But there are times where I can’t see them in time, or a dog spawns and is one shot by a thug or assassin. And, again, I have to be the killing blow on every opponent that spawns. It’s incredibly unfair and heavily relies on RNG to get a good spawn to make it to the next Wave. The base game alone is a very fun and easy completion (you don’t even need to “complete all side quests” or get a bunch of collectibles or anything like that). But these Trials really kill any chance I’ll ever touch the Definitive Edition or any other further re-releases.

Definitely not the most off-putting beginning to an orgy I’ve been a part of.
