I had thought I had a Gaming Session in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Decade Duels Plus on Sunday, but turns out the group I was looking to join had made one without telling me and I was excluded. But, mistakenly being in the first match unlocked an achievement! This has been languishing on my Xbox 360 for many years, but between the frustration these games bring and the online I was put off. Now I’m in it for the long run! I also jumped in to knock out some easy achievements Thursday and Friday to keep my streak going while I did other things.

My main goal this week was a rush to complete Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden before the end of the year on Thursday, and I just squeaked it in. Really all I had to do was clear the map of all activities, Haunting Quests, and collectibles and the complete the final two bosses for my ending. I could have used a guide or map to make things easier, but really you don’t need it since everything besides, like Soul Grabbers (already finished last week) and bibles, is on the in-game map as a question mark to uncover. I don’t know, I was enjoying just exploring and doing everything I could. The one thing I wasn’t warned about by any guides was that you’d have to go back and complete one more follow-up activity for the final piece of equipment. With that figured out, I sprinted through the end of the game one last time and got my ending! That was a very cool game, and another intriguing narrative adventure from Dont Nod!

Back to the “Leaving Game Pass” grind! I felt a little under the weather on Saturday, so I figured I’d knock out the “Merry & Mischievous Edition” of The Grinch: Christmas Adventures. It’s short and easy, but it’s not even a little fun. It’s a kids platformer and they don’t try at all to reach beyond that goal. The controls are just so lame as Grinch will maneuver through the air just as you’d expect his dumpy self to do so. I actually took a little longer than I should have playing this as I didn’t realize I didn’t have to 100% each level. Whoops! There are also some stealth sections as you sneak through the homes around town, but they’re kinda janky and by the end of the game I was just sprinting through them. Anyway, a mostly inoffensive, fleeting time in Whoville.
