“What do you think you’ll find outside?”

Achievements Earned In:
- Webgeon Speedrun Edition
- Jusant
- The Cabin Factory
- Vampire Survivors

Only used Webgeon Speedrun Edition a couple days this week to keep my streak going. I just didn’t feel like gaming much on those days, so I’d get my achievement and go do something else! Usually just being lazy and watching TV with the kiddo, while editing and processing videos. And, honestly, I mostly waited around on Wednesday and Thursday for my internet service provider to come over and install the new modem they’re giving out (a nice free speed upgrade!) and didn’t wanna get into a game. Then I also needed to get on Fortnite and get the MMPR Green Ranger skin before the Season ended! …Yeah, I may have been playing that “for fun” with the kiddo lately.

This seems outside the realm of typical spider-ing.

First new game of the week was Jusant, which was announced to be removed from the Game Pass library at the end of the month. I knew it was a well-regarded game from Don’t Nod, which is a developer that tends to make games I end up enjoying (like Vampyr, Remember Me, and, of course, the incredible Life is Strange), so I always planned on making the completion a priority when it was announced to be leaving. This is a very quiet and reflective game about scaling a massive tower where a city’s worth of people used to live before everything dried up. The climbing controls are simple enough, and there’s no conflict at all, so you can solely focus on getting to the next “stage” of the city and looking for collectibles to read. You can also just wander around and look at everything! The achievements are a mix of simple progression, collectibles, and some cumulative movement ones. Takes only a few hours to get through, and I enjoyed the whole experience!

… How am I supposed to get back down?

With the end of spooky season approaching, I had to do at least one horror game. Last year trying to start and complete a new one each day during October was a bit much, so I can manage a single game this time. I went with The Cabin Factory, one of many popular streaming/Let’s Play games from a year ago that is only now hitting Xbox lately. This title is essentially one of those “observation” games, as you look for anomalies to report. In this case, you’re examining prop cabins for “hauntings”, defined solely as when something is moving inside the structure. This… is a creepy game. I could have loaded up a guide and easily sprinted through the inspections, but I wanted to actually enjoy this one and feel spooked by the weird visuals. Even without a guide for the anomalies and playing “for scares” on stream, it was still only around 50 minutes for the entire completion. Definitely worth the couple bucks!

Father was always a fan of his daily apple and bread.

Well, it’s been a few months, so inevitably it was time to finally return to Vampire Survivors, this time for an online play update and Balatro & Castlevania tie-ins! But, the achievements are essentially the same as always: find new relic, level up new weapon, evolve new weapon, hit level 80 on new map, survive a while on new map, and one that would take forever to grind from the start but pops retroactively if you’ve been jumping back in for each of these updates (probably). The achievements do mix it up a little, though, with an achievement for hitting +999% luck with a new character and one for using a new character’s unique passive ability to find ten golden chests. I still really enjoy this one, so they can keep adding all the achievements they want as far as I’m concerned!
