“It’s mean, and it’s rude, and it’s scary.”

It was down to the home stretch in G-Force on Sunday, as I barreled through my final playthrough on the hardest difficulty as quickly as possible. I really wanted to avoid yet another playthrough, so it was imperative that I get the speedrun done this run. And, honestly, it was a lot easier than I’d expected. The “difficulty” here was the usual: the enemies hit like tanks, though thankfully they didn’t seem to require more damage to take out. And since I’d collected the silver discs so many times, I knew where they were and grabbed a fair amount to keep myself upgraded, especially my Shot Bolter. This thing can take out most enemies (up close) very quickly, including the most annoying of all the bots: the Saberling Personal CD Player. The whole playthrough took just under 5 hours, so I came way under the limit. All-in-all, an easy and relaxing final run to end this b.s. completion.

Stop hiding and face me, coward!

So, the new list of games leaving Game Pass had been released, and I had a tough choice to make. I certainly wanted to 100% Another’s Crab Treasure, so that wasn’t really the problem. It’s a “cute” action game where you play as a small hermit crab that is simply trying to get his home/shell back. He does this by picking up a fork and mowing his way through the ocean, and using various pieces of trash littered about with different stats. The decision came down to whether I wanted to complete it legit, or with a gun. You can toggle the ability to wear a gun instead of other options and, using its Shell Power, you can one-shot every enemy in the game. This is, of course, the preferred option for achievement hunters as it turns a fairly difficult 20-hour “Souls-like” completion into a much simpler 2-ish hour one. And, since I stream and make content (and have a bit of an ego), I decided to do this au naturel. And, while I definitely raged a fair bit, I don’t regret the decision. It was a really cool game, and like most of these I’ve played (like Lords of the Fallen and Pharaonic) things became easier when I just tanked-out my gear and build, and got some health regeneration. By the final boss I was just blocking the damage with my shell, sometimes my face, and keeping my health at max with the damage I was dealing. Up until the switch-up when the Scuttling Sludge Steamroller made me crashout, I had mostly been using the Yoccult shell because of the ability to heal using Umami. It was nice, but with the low shell durability and defense it just became too weak to rely on. But, yeah, besides the baked-in difficulty, the completion isn’t really all that tough and most of the achievements are tied to bosses. You also need to wear all the shells and upgrade your fork/sword to the max, but just being thorough in your exploration will get you most of them. By the end of the game I was missing four shells and five keys to upgrade my sword, so not too much to go find. You also have to jump into New Game Plus for a little bit, and I absolutely turned on the gun for the first new boss (eff you, rude crab). After you trek some and takeout three bosses, you’re done with this “second” playthrough if you completed everything else in the first one. I do love me some Aggro Crab, so hopefully their other big game, Peak, comes to Xbox at some point! And maybe I’ll do Crashout Crew, too!
