While a lot of games can be annoying to return to, I sure love coming back to Vampire Survivors with every new batch of achievements. Which seems like they’re not planning on stopping anytime soon! For this one, it was still more of the same though: new achievements tied to the added characters, the weapons and evolutions, and the stages, with a few miscellaneous tossed in. The highlight for this update, Legacy of the Bloodmoon, is the two boss fights, where things actually change up. I really thought the Baal'Thasar especially was neat, and even better that you can use his final power once you unlock him. It was so fun, I even played for a while after I was done since I still needed some of the non-achievement content. Sadly, none of the licensed content has any achievements, like the Among Us or Castlevania DLC, since the developer didn’t want any delisted content down the road to make any achievements discontinued. Truly, based behavior. So, I can’t completely complain.

I’m sure Alucard would thrive in Among Us with Balatro powers...
Figured I’d use the rest of the week to revisit the games I started for the TA Bean Dive again, starting with XBLA title 1942: Joint Strike. I originally grabbed it as the Xbox Marketplace went down, because while it would be tough I wanted to give it a chance! And… well, it was cake. I thought a lot of this week would be struggling to figure out how to make it through the hardest difficulty, or trying to get the 2 million score. But… nope; finished everything in the first evening. I’m shocked, honestly! I’m not exactly the best at shoot-em-ups like this, and this was definitely one I was concerned with starting. It helps that, besides surviving the waves of enemies beforehand, you can just play keepaway with the bosses to avoid having to fight them and risk losing lives. Once you beat the end boss on “Wing King” difficulty, you also unlock a very powerful secret plane that makes getting that 2-million points achievement and the one for getting all S-ranks on bosses very easily as long as you go full-bore on each boss encounter on the easiest difficulty. The next day I just had to do two more playthroughs as the other planes, and then some co-op stuff. A very unexpected easy completion!

The only boss you kinda have to work at dodging the entire fight!
Well, my mood dropped significantly this week, so I figured it was time to start a new game I can jump into for a few minutes when I needed an achievement solely for my streak. Part of the same Weakfish Indie bundle where I got Skeljump and Blacksmith Forger, Yello Adventures was what I went with, getting a quick achievement on Wednesday, and then another on Saturday. This is almost like a super watered down platformer where you explore a cave. It’s… lame. But it’ll do the trick!

Since I completed a “hard” game from my Dive, I figured I’d go next to an easier one. LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars is, sadly, one of the LEGO games I consider to be “bad”, where they’re pretty dull and repetitive, and needlessly grindy. But unlike the other games I’ve played in this series based on other media, I have zero idea what is going on here. Like, I’m aware of characters in the lore like Ahsoka or Asajj Ventress, but I didn’t watch any of the relevant Clone Wars shows (besides the amazing now non-canon Genndy Tartakovsky series). So, with no dialogue or voice acting or anything, I’m kinda lost and this is making this even more of a drag. I’m not very far into the game so far, but I’m also just blowing through the game, which I don’t usually do and tend to get caught trying to 100% each level as I go instead of waiting to unlock the needed characters. I will give the game props as it adds a watered-down MOBA-ish aspect where you buy structures to deploy troops or vehicles to help conquer battlefields. It’s neat, but… not enough to make this fun. Hopefully this doesn’t drag on too long.
