Achievements Earned In:
- Volcano Princess
- Chaos;Child
Sunday was an incredibly productive day in Volcano Princess as I just churned out achievement after achievement simply using the save from my blind first playthrough. I apparently did pretty well inadvertently setting up a situation where I could get most of the achievements related to relationships and non-STR tasks. The only relationships I didn’t or couldn’t end in marriage during this playthrough was the other Lords (since I needed to have joined their house back near the beginning of the game) and the Five Boys (Hackett, Lon, Ze, Benson, and Craig) because I figured I’d get their poly achievement and individual ones later. I jumped into that second playthrough on Monday, and quickly figured out that I had the process down to be as efficient as possible, and how helpful having better base stats due to unlocking achievements was. My first run through the Explorations quickly had me one-shotting enemies with little training, and same for duels and crimes in Dark Alley. In fact, it wasn’t long until I was OP in just about every way and easily could clear Banquet chats, performances, Festival events… kinda wild. With the massive amount of in-game and Xbox achievements I had by the end of the second playthrough, the final run was even easier, and I was quickly so stat’d and rich that I could solely focus on chatting up the final Lord I had to wed. And that was it! Definitely worth playing if you can get into something like this, and I wasn’t over it or bored until the very end of that third playthrough. I can certainly say it does not earn that 7+ ratio on TrueAchievements. Not even close.

Why are these caked-up Satan goats posing so… seductively?
I wasn’t feeling up to really starting anything too big or involved right now, so I popped in Chaos;Child, another Japanese visual novel I had lying around. This is a more recent addition to the collection, but there aren’t many Japan-only Xbox One titles and I saw this on eBay and figured I’d snatch it up. If you’ve played these or read my blog over the years you know how this goes: follow a guide, fast-forward through the dialogue, make choices as they come up. This game’s twist to the formula is that you don’t make concrete choices so much as you decide the vibe of what’s to come and have “delusions”. I didn’t make it too far as I figured I’d let the first chapter play out at normal speed for content before blowing through the rest for achievements. And, man, that took a few days!
