“I want to raise a wolf in the forest!”
Achievements Earned In:
- The Mummy Demastered
- Volcano Princess
Besides my first death(s) against the second boss, I managed to make it through the rest of The Mummy Demastered without any more! Obviously I was save-scumming anyway, but it made it easy to avoid all the reloading and such since I didn’t die again. That’s also a great example of how the game isn’t very tough overall. There’s a section of the playthrough (around the second boss, actually) where the difficulty is outpacing the upgrades you’re getting. But, by the time you get the flamethrower things get much easier. If you’re going for all the items you’ll have plenty of bandoliers holding lots of ammo and this make even bosses pretty easy. Actually, the bosses are just outright easy, including the final boss against Ahmanet (and Set). At the end of my first playthrough I only had missed a couple of rooms on getting the map 100% cleared, so that was a quick fix when I reloaded my save. The same for items, as I’d missed a couple in those same rooms, so once I beat the finale a second time all the achievements I needed unlocked! Well, besides the two related to dying, where I had to die, regenerate, and then kill my old player character that is now aggressive and carrying all my upgrades.

Is this how this film ended? I honestly don’t know.
The new list of games leaving the Game Pass library dropped on Tuesday. I had finished The Mummy the day prior, so my plate was clear! There were a few games that I might wanna do, but the completion time was just too long. The one that really caught my eye was Volcano Princess, a parenting simulator set in a medieval fantasy setting. If you’ve never played one of these (which I really hadn’t until this week) you get a kid and have to choose what they do every “day”/turn, trying to shape the best human you can. In this case, you want a friendly, strong, intelligent, kind, creative, and talented princess to send off into adulthood. That’s… impossible, so you have to be sure to have a goal in mind at the start of the playthrough so you can get as many achievements as efficiently as possible. For my first one, I went in mostly blind and ended up getting the creative side all maxed out, working on romancing the nun as I noticed it’s the rarest achievement in the game. Apparently not too long ago a lot of the achievements in the game were unobtainable, so good thing they got fixed! I’m now using saves from this playthrough to knock out more achievements, like marrying my chosen lord and her brother (poly achievements, huh?) and then each individually. I think my next playthrough will be getting all the strength and combat achievements, as I’ve barely focused on any of that this time. I don’t want my precious child romping through the spooky woods!
