“It ain’t evil it’s just an overwhelming need…”

Achievements Earned In:
- Dishonored
- The Outlast Trials

With the worst of the add-ons behind me, it was time to enjoy some Dishonored again. Moving to the “Knife of Dunwall” expansion, this time we play as Daud, which isn’t a whole lot different from playing as Corvo… except Daud’s Blink allows you to stop time as well! This is a crazy helpful power and truly make getting around stealthily much easier. Which is good, as there are the usual “don’t be seen” and “don’t kill anyone” achievements to contend with, though there are only a meager three missions to have to work through this time. There were a couple spots that proved to be a pain (namely the third mission) but overall a much more enjoyable experience than even the base game. I was busy with something else most of the week, but I managed to just about finish up my second run (had to do low chaos and high chaos again). Hopefully it’s an easy run through the third and final add-on and I’m finally done with this!

The game I’m starting this month (July) for my goal of playing a game every month in 2025 that I felt didn’t get the a fair shake by the gaming community upon its release in 2024 is The Outlast Trials! This was even more exciting as I would be playing with  dynamic couple TommyToday and Gh0st Who Walks, and they’d been playing already so (like with Phasmophobia prior) they were well-versed in how to play and quickly threw me into the deep end, where you’re trapped in a facility where the scientists conduct tests on you by sending you through “staged” scenarios. Essentially, each Trial is a mini version of a true Outlast game, as you skulk around a fake mall, dock, downtown, or other setting to complete objectives while avoiding some monstruous a-hole trying to kill you. It’s actually a fairly addictive gameplay loop, and the achievement list is also very basic so I’m quite down for this! By simply playing a lot, you’ll get most of the achievements naturally. We’re too good so I’ve gotten zero progress on anything that involves being downed, but we can work on those later on. A good turn your brain off type of game!
