“Good luck on whatever it is you’re doing.”
Achievements Earned In:
- Human Fall Flat
- Atlas Fallen
- G-Force
Yup, they added more dang Human Fall Flat DLC. This time, it’s “Test Chamber” and “Steampunk Party”, which… whatever, the theme of the levels don’t matter. It’s the same as always: an achievement for beating the level, and then three miscellaneous achievements, usually one of them stretched out through the whole area. The Test Chamber is kinda themed after Portal or something, so the puzzles were, for the first time, actually a little tough and I got outright stumped on Sunday during the part involving green cubes. I was so over it, so when I returned for the other level on Thursday I was surprised that I wasn’t immediately outraged. In fact, I kinda wrecked Steampunk Party, easily knocking out each puzzle and speeding through the whole thing. I even cheated the claw game puzzle that is apparently very annoying, but I ain’t about that. And that’s that AGAIN! I can’t believe this is still getting content since the second game came out… wait, it isn’t out yet?!

Found the party!
When I started Atlas Fallen the week prior, I definitely knew this was the type of game where a good chunk of the achievements would come as we approach the end. Sure enough, that was this week! I reached the final zone, and the pops began to come fast and heavy. I found the final armor, upgraded them all and unlocked my final perk, destroyed the final shrine, and discovered all treasure chests, amongst everything else. I also, obviously, beat the storyline, but that was so easy. By this point I would let fly my spells, and just go ham on everything with little care for my health or safety. I even got really good at parrying attacks, meaning often the enemies would end up frozen (crystalized) too. I actually can’t believe how easy the final boss was, enough so that I was shocked when they went down and the story began to wrap up! I still needed some collectibles after the credits wrapped, one of which were the upgrade shards you collect throughout the story. Each time there are four you can grab, but only three are needed to upgrade your gauntlet’s power and progress the story. To aid this in the large maps, you can press D-pad down and the shards send a beam into the sky to follow, so I figured tying this up would be quick using this ability. Welp, apparently this ability is removed once you complete any of the related quests, so I was on my own to find however many I’d left out there. Thankfully I only needed one, and a peek at a video guide showed the obvious one I’d missed. Same for the cosmetics, where I was missing a single item (I incorrectly thought the dyes counted). Whew! Overall this game was pretty cool, and I feel like I can safely recommend to anyone!

Oh, jeez, who invited Sauron to this fantasy battle?
With my plate clear again, it was time to get back to the Bean Dive recovery. G-Force is an interesting case, as I knew of it from how competent it apparently is for what it is. I’d also watched the defunct Funhaus play it years ago, so I had some basis for what kind of game it was. And, yeah, not wrong! It’s still very much a “family game”, but just feels more like an un-licensed AA game than a full tie-in. Y’know? Anyway, I started scurrying my way through the game on Friday, and I haven’t really had much trouble. The gameplay itself isn’t stressful, but boy the achievements are. The main one I’m concerned about is reaching the end of the game with an 80% or more accuracy with your ranged weapons. That’s stressful, and even moreso when you have a bunch of achievements for getting kills with the various guns! And the enemies will often dart around and actively avoid your shots! I’m trying to limit my gunplay as much as possible and am ready to restrict it even more in the second, hard playthrough. I guess if I had a real complaint, it’s that the environment is very whatever. I’ve been stuck in this office building for most of the game so far, and then moved to a factory for a while. Not sure what’s next, but we’ll see!
