“Maybe… I’m just not very good at being human.”

Achievements Earned In:
- Rise of the Tomb Raider
- Crime Scene Cleaner
- A Plague Tale: Requiem

With the campaign all knocked out in Rise of the Tomb Raider, it was mostly about mopping everything up around the various zones. There’s nothing really noteworthy here, as it’s all pretty easy and just requires following various icons around the map. None of the challenge tombs are even very complicated! The only part of getting the 100% in-game completion that can be annoying is the location-based Challenges, because sometimes it’s hard to know exactly what is required of you, so a guide is very handy. But as always it was mostly video guides everywhere, so it took a second to find one that was just text (and pictures). I did run into a game-breaking glitch, where when I completed the mission “Misguided Intelligence” the game would refuse to save anymore, crashing when I tried to fast travel and resetting back to the last checkpoint before the mission. It was really weird, so I skipped it for the time being, but still got the “all missions completed” achievement later on? No idea, but as long as I got it. I even went back at the end and checked and it still wasn’t completed, nor did I have the item rewarded. Shrug! With that out of the way, it’s time to move to the Score Attack mode next, which might be tough? There are achievements for that mode in both the base game and the Baba Yaga add-on, so hopefully they’re not all that tough! The scariest thing is the game’s connections to the servers, which are… tenuous at best. It made buying the cards I needed frustrating, and may be worse when I need that connection to register my scores for that Score Attack mode. That’s gonna be tense.

I’m so glad all these random ropes aren’t fraying or rotting at all…

Now to the next batch of games leaving Game Pass! There are two this time I for sure figured I could get to, and I started with the chill yet morbid Crime Scene Cleaner. You play as a man that… cleans crime scenes! Pretty much in the title. Mop up blood, dispose of evidence and corpses, and make some good money. I’ve only completed the first mission, but this should be a “cozy” time. There’re Nightmare versions of each mission, and some challenges and collectibles, but I’m not super worried. I’m only putting this aside for the moment as my friend TommyToday really wants to watch me play. And she was busy and/or working over the weekend.

The other game leaving the Game Pass library that is manageable enough is A Plague Tale: Requiem. I’d done the first game back in 2020, and really enjoyed it, so this has always been on the list to get to. It’s almost exactly the same game, since it takes place pretty shortly afterwards. I’m actually not surprised they almost immediately sideline Hugo since (spoilers) he has control of the rats by the end of the game. But, that acknowledgement of the previous entry continues in the gameplay, and the game ramps up real fast. I’m only into Chapter 5, but the rats are in full force and things don’t look good. I’d be kinda shocked if both these kids make it out of this alive, honestly. These games don’t have the most uplifting of narratives… Oh! Achievement-wise, it’s very simple. Lots of cumulative stuff, progress stuff, and upgrades. I’m gonna hold onto my materials and cheese the upgrades so I can get them all at once. There are also upgrades to your stats that come from how you face each encounter, with stealth, aggression, or a mixture of both being the categories. I’m trying to go for the middle approach so I can more easily get things done in the necessary partial second playthrough. But, so far, this is going well!
