Good ole Shawn1991, being stationed over in Japan, sent me over a few games a while back. One of them, Stranger of Sword City: White Palace, is one I’ve been tempted to start a few times, but the prospect of working through an RPG of all things completely in Japanese can be quite intimidating. A quick glimpse at the walkthrough on TrueAchievements seemed to show a comprehensive enough path through the game that I figured, “Why not?” And so far… I’m not really regretting it. Sure, it can be tough at times, and I’m certain there are aspects of the gameplay I may not be aware of to make things easier, but overall I’m breezing through a dungeon every evening and besides a boss here and there I’m making it along without much trouble. I’ve done a little grinding, but overall it wasn’t until facing the Lineage monsters in Ghost Town that I hit a pretty hard wall. I struggled through it with some strategy (and some RNG) but according to the walkthrough that is probably one of the toughest parts of the playthrough, too! Thank goodness, because that was ragetastic. The worst part of this game is something you don’t see too often nowadays: save points. You can only save your game while back at the guild (which acts as your home base) and if you wipe, it’s right back to the main menu. Even worse, your characters have what amount to “lives”, so if you happen to have one fall in battle and they’re out of those, it’s permadeath. This means it’s usually best just to reload anyway. Ugh, I had to repeat a few long sections more than I’d like. Hopefully not many more road bumps ahead!

Well, can’t understand the reason I’m here, but I guess I’ll just kill ya anyway.
I was busy on Saturday and didn’t have time to reach the next achievement in White Palace, so I looked to the Nintendo Switch version of Minecraft to get an achievement quick like I usually do. But when I opened my list of games, I realized something: I had never gotten the newest achievement to regain my completion in the Xbox version! So, I did that really quick, without even using a premade world. It was nice!
