Well, I called the ending to A Plague Tale: Requiem almost dead on, though I really hoped I’d be wrong mostly. I won’t go into it to avoid spoilers, but anyone that played this and thought there’d be some happy ending clearly lacks any media literacy! But overall I had little left to do here. I barreled towards the end through Sunday, and the conclusion came on Monday. It was really easy, and there’s only one section that’s tough buuut you’re supposed to fail it (spoiler) so all-in-all a nice little trek to utter devastation. This left the three combat-style achievements. I’d gotten close to the Opportunism full upgrade through my first playthrough, so it was the first I got in New Game+. The key is to always try and work on this method of dealing with encounters first, as if you overshoot the kill count you’ll get Aggressive experience, and if you come up short you get progress for Prudence. This makes it so you get as little wasted effort as possible when you’re working on these annoying achievements. It wouldn’t be so bad if there were so few combat sections in the entire game. In fact, with no experience wasted you still can’t get these done until partway through Chapter 7 in your second playthrough. There’s just SO much unskippable walking and talking. What a pain. But, poignant.

Is this a metaphor or something?
While the campaign is all done, I still have plenty to do in Rise of the Tomb Raider. I figured I’d finally start up the Score Attack mode, where you have to complete small sections of the game while trying to hold a combo (from picking up items or materials, or getting kills) and get the score necessary. For the completion, I need 10 gold medals, and then at least a bronze in the rest. To facilitate this, you can equip cards that both strengthen and weaken Lara and the enemies, or help or hinder in general. You can start with no ammo, have a giant easily shootable head, or give the enemies additional armor. The worse it is, the higher of a percentage increase you receive added to your final score. At a certain point you can have enough points to easily get gold once you learn a fairly efficient path through the area. A lot of the time, as the areas get bigger, you have to kinda leave some pickups and mode-only wisps behind so when you have to circle back later you have stuff to keep your multiplier up. I only need a few more gold scores and I’ll be able to quickly breeze through the rest. It’s a little frustrating here and there, but overall it’s not too bad.

Lara is getting educated and earning points!
Had to jump into Yello Adventures on Saturday to keep my streak going, as I wasn’t able to get an achievement in Tomb Raider while working on the Score Attack. This game is getting kinda annoying, but still not crazy hard.
