“This dungeon is JAWMAZING!”
Achievements Earned In:
- Dungeons of Hinterberg
- Minami Lane
- Palworld
First up was getting through the rest of Dungeons of Hinterberg. Since I was only 10 dungeons in at this point, I had a good bit still to go. As I played and read about the achievements, I realized I didn’t need to focus on things as much as I assumed at first. For one, you don’t really need to befriend many people overall, mostly only needing some gear from four people, full access to the shop, and the ability to unlock chests. You also have to befriend a dog, but why wouldn’t you otherwise?! The collectible coin for each dungeon also ended up being pretty easy to find, only using a guide a couple times when I missed one juuust to make sure I didn’t spend too much extra time trying to go back to locate it. I also ran around every time I went to an area to grind pickups which added plenty of time to my completion, but paid off when I needed to shrink Charms for an achievement. I’ll say, the difficulty got a little tough near the end, but the end boss just fell on its face and was a complete pushover. And done with plenty of time to spare! I thought going in that the story would grab me more than the gameplay, but it ended up being the exact opposite! Glad I did it.

Best. Vacation. Ever.
Just popped into Minami Lane, another game leaving the Game Pass library, so I could get an achievement before heading out after work to a farmer’s festival. It seems cute so far! I’ve heard it called “cozy”, and the completion time is short. I’m not concerned.

Finally back to Palworld, which finally finally released out of Game Preview! The 1.0 update brought with it new achievements, so here I am. The patch also brought along updates to almost every aspect of the game, fundamentally changing even the progression you’d make starting from scratch. I’ll be honest, it’s pretty annoying playing my old file and having to stop and figure out how to even craft the simple basic things I used to be able to do. They also sprinkled new effigies across every island you have to collect for achievements… except the descriptions for them didn’t mention you have to (at time of writing) have the required number of effigies in your inventory to unlock the related achievement! So, when I grabbed 18 Lamball Effigies (out of 30) and used most of them to test the new upgrade system, I essentially locked myself out of being able to get the achievement for collecting 20 of them. I’m pretty annoyed, but I’m honestly planning on getting this new batch of achievements ASAP and then starting a new save (as the developer suggested) and hopefully recollecting the effigies will get me all tidied up. By the end of the week, I’d zoomed around for hours on my Xenolord and cleared most of the new effigies that I hadn’t locked myself out of, and just reached the new zone: Sunreach! I’m enjoying the “real” game so far overall, but I think my favorite part is how viable the Pals finally are when it comes to combat. In fact, I feel like I’m even less of a help than before, which I honestly prefer. It’s “legally-distinct Pokémon”! The people shouldn’t even be involved!
