And my adventures in Abiotic Factor finally ended this week! I honestly didn’t have a whole lot to do as last week came to a close, turns out. In fact, by Sunday evening I’d vanquished the final boss and seen the dramatic conclusion of my ripping through the GATE facility trying to escape. Boy… not a happy ending, for sure. It also feels incomplete. I think the developer has more planned, so it’s very likely I’ll be returning. With that in mind, I didn’t do the usual thing I do in games like this, where I just start mindlessly expending my gear and materials to end the game faster. I took my time and kept farming as needed. With the story finished, I quickly ran around moping up what I had left, like entering an interdimensional arcade machine (in a clear, let’s say, “homage” to Mario 64) and sitting in a particular chair. The most time-consuming part of this clear-up was fishing for an Osseous Chordfish, which I was wholly unprepared for. I’d fished very little throughout my time in the game, so I was under-leveled in that skill. But it didn’t take long to reach level 5 and unlock a seat that makes fishing quicker. There’s apparently a hat and rod that would have also helped, but the time it takes to get these wasn’t worth going for, I decided. The fish I needed is only found in a fountain in the Flathill anteverse, so I was just sitting in the fog, listening to the melodic sounds of the Composers, and it didn’t take all that long until the fish finally came up, knocking out my final achievement for this incredible title. I legit hope they add more achievements. Heck, if they add just big content sans cheevos I will likely play more anyway while it’s in Game Pass. Such a cool game!

Oh no… how’d I end up in the Backrooms?!
As much as I was dying to play something new after spending SO much time in a single game this past month, I recognized I needed to still finish up some games sitting on my ‘tag. One was Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Decade Duels Plus, which I’d put off for years since I bought it as these games tick me off. And, hoo boy was that fully evident as I dug into facing the two champions I had to defeat for the achievements. First up was Jack Atlas, the hardest of the two, and many many times by Turn 2 he’d have a veritable army of very high power dragons special and tribute summoned with which to mop the floor with my monsters. The heart of the cards was on his side! I know one reason I struggled so much was I was using mostly the initial deck you start with, along with some added cards I’d received in the few matches I’d completed prior. I could have grinded and let the battles play out as they should, losing and getting more cards as I went. BUT SCREW THAT! It came down to having the right combo of cards to trim his army down so he couldn’t fuse much, and this was mostly using Swords of Revealing Light and Nightmare’s Steelcage (so he couldn’t attack me) and then the Swarm of Scarabs’s flip effect to keep the field clear. Once I had all his spells/traps and monsters gone, I’d hit him hard and fast. It was a very particular set of circumstances to get there, but I managed to get the two wins I needed in the match to knock him out. Next was Yusei Fudo, who also happened to show up in the subsequent tournament (yeah, it’s apparently random between the two bosses who makes it to the final). To say he was easier is an understatement, I had more issues with the matches leading up to him, and he typically didn’t suddenly have some unfair combo to destroy me. I used a similar strategy to beat him, but his monsters also weren’t crazy strong so I could just use the good ole fashioned method of “attacking with my monsters” to whittle down his defenses. Only two attempts! This only left the grindy achievements, for dealing a million total damage and winning 200 matches. I started with the damage achievement, creating a deck with exclusively monsters that didn’t require tributes (so level 4 and under) and pairing with my alt account in 16000LP matches. It took about 40 matches to get that achievement to pop on Saturday, and then I started quickly idling matches for the wins. I have to be so close to done!

Can’t a dog even play in a park anymore? We used to be a society!
I figured it was finally time to knock out Rattyvity Lab, my “keep the streak alive” game. This whole game (which had a “demo” label in the corner of the screen") only has 20 puzzles, making it an overall easy game and not just an easy completion. How do these people get away with making stupid garbage like this and charging for it? Yeah, I know; I bought it. But I have a 15+ year streak to keep alive! Of all the puzzles, there was only one I truly struggled with at all, so it’s just flatout easy. But still garbage.

AHH!! IDIOT SANDWICH!
With my other backup game complete, I needed to start a new one on Friday while I went to be social. I decided on Vigour, another from the Weakfish publisher pack I bought a while ago. This seems to be a puzzle game where you fly between portals and have to enter each once. Probably won’t be very difficult since these are all seemingly garbage baby games.
