It didn’t take long on Sunday to reach the end of my first/Hard playthrough of The Smurfs: Mission Vileaf, so it was all about replaying all the levels and grabbing the remaining collectibles. Oh, wait, first that final chapter was garbage. They add a new mechanic where Gargamel is scanning your path with his torch, and not only is it just annoying but it also glitches up! The beam of light will speed up, randomly reset, disappear altogether… it doesn’t work right. This obviously impedes searching around for collectibles, so it was the main levels I used a video to cut down on all that struggle. I have to say, those final levels really knocked some points off my positive opinion of the game from last week, but I think overall it’s a pretty fun and simple completion and competent platformer.

Screw off, you bungling old creep!
With a lull in my Gamefly rentals showing up, I needed to pick a new game. I could have done an easy one or two until my next game arrived, or torment myself by “catching up” on my Xbox 360 library. But, nah, let’s do something fun. I really enjoyed the first game, so I’d been excited to get around to Deus Ex: Mankind Divided at some point. I just hadn’t because I knew the first playthrough would be both boring and stressful due to the two main game-long achievements: don’t kill anyone and don’t set off any alarms. There are also eBooks to read, so all-in-all I have to follow a step by step guide to not have to do a third playthrough (the second will be on Hard). As for the game itself, it’s more politics and espionage and twist and turns, all while dressed in designer leather outfits and carbon-fiber robotics. The biggest issue I’m having so far is the achievements tend to just… not unlock a lot. Maybe it’s because I’m playing on Series S? Ugh. I kinda can’t wait for the second playthrough, because then I can mostly just play the game without having to follow a guide. I could just play the game for fun the first time and make it three playthroughs? SHUT UP. That’s madness.
